Last week, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reported that West Ham are interested in signing Leeds United winger Cryscencio Summerville. The Hammers along with Italian giants Roma are monitoring the 22-year-old regarding a summer move.
Fabrizio Romano gives a major update on West Ham's pursuit of Summerville
Now, talking to GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano has updated on the Summerville transfer, saying,
"The interest is still there in Summerville. It’s an expensive package, so I’m not sure West Ham will be able to make it happen, but the interest is genuine.Fabrizio Romano
They had contacts on the player’s side and contacts on the club side after speaking to Leeds last week. He is one of the players they have on their shortlist."
West Ham's interest in the left winger rises from the lack of wingers in the squad following Said Benrahma's move to Lyon. The right footed left winger checks all the boxes required by West Ham and will provide a new dimension to the Hammers attack with his blistering pace down the left flank.
Summerville impressed in the Championship last season as the Dutch winger scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United helping them to gain promotion to the Premier League. Now, following his remarkable displays for Leeds, Summerville is highly likely to leave Elland Road this summer for a big move.
And the Wolves game showed that Lopetegui needs high pressing and pacy players in his new system to aim for a top six spot in the Premier League. However, the transfer fee for Summerville is high and can be upwards of £30 million so West Ham need to generate funds from player sales to bring Summerville to the London Stadium this summer.
