Can Will Still be a long term managerial candidate for West Ham

After former manager David Moyes left his managerial role at the London Stadium, West Ham considered several top managers around Europe. Among them Sporting manager Ruben Amorim and former Reims manager Will Still were on the Hammers shortlist before deciding to bring former UEFA Europa League winning manager Julen Lopetegui. Ruben Amorim stayed at Sporting despite interest from several top European clubs and Will Still became the manager of French club Lens. 

While Ruben Amorim is expected to manage a UEFA Champions League playing club in the upcoming years with Liverpool and Bayern Munich interested in him this summer, Will Still can be an ideal option for the Hammers after a few years. Will is 31-years-old and has been impressive in his last two seasons as Reims manager taking 25 wins and 17 draws in 64 matches. Further, he has started this season well with Lens taking three wins and one draw in their first five league matches.

Also, Will Still is a West Ham fan and has revealed his ambition of managing the Hammers in the future. If Will continues his upward trajectory in his managerial role at French club Lens in the next few seasons, he can become the new West Ham manager after Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui signed a two year contract at West Ham this summer which includes the option of extending the contract by an another year if West Ham qualify for European football. 

In this transfer window, West Ham have made nine new signings to assemble a quality squad, thus, the expectations are high for Julen Lopetegui's side this season. If the Hammers perform well this season under manager Julen Lopetegui, then West Ham will want to keep Lopetegui for more seasons at the club. Now it remains to be seen whether West Ham improve their performances after the international break and achieve a top six finish in the Premier League this season.
