Crysencio Summerville has been in such good form for West Ham United this season that he was set to be called up by the Netherlands for the first time. Unfortunately, an injury he sustained in the latter stages of West Ham's win over Brentford in the FA Cup meant that he was not included in Ronald Koeman's side.
Summerville could return for West Ham as they face his former club Leeds United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this Sunday. The Dutchman's future at the London Stadium is uncertain as he is now being linked with several sides.
TEAMtalk has reported that "Tottenham Hotspur are understood to retain interest and could rekindle their pursuit in the summer... Interest is not confined to north London. Within the Premier League, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brentford, and Everton have all been monitoring the former Championship Player of the Season.
"On the continent, clubs including Marseille, Napoli, Atalanta, and Villarreal are said to be keeping a close eye on developments... Former club Leeds United have also been mooted as a destination by some."
Crysencio Summerville's future will depend on who gets relegated
If West Ham are relegated, then Summerville will no doubt be one of the first players out of the door at the London Stadium. He is being linked with some of West Ham's relegation rivals, such as Spurs and Leeds. If either of those sides goes down instead of the Hammers, then he will not be going there.
Villa, who are currently fourth in the Premier League, would appear to be the most favorable option of the other English teams that Summerville is being linked with. Unai Emery's side could offer Champions League soccer next season.
Summerville will have ambitions of playing at the highest level, so a move abroad could be what is needed to ensure he plays in European soccer's premier competition. Therefore, a transfer to a top Ligue 1, Serie A, or Villarreal could also be an option for him this summer.
The winger's focus for now will be on keeping West Ham in the Premier League. His performances between now and the end of the season could lead to Koeman taking him to the World Cup.
