Surprisingly, Mads Hermansen has never conceded a goal to Erling Haaland. However, he has only faced him once. That was in a 1-1 Premier League draw last season, when Bernardo Silva scored Manchester City's goal against West Ham United.

When West Ham were relegated, Hermansen may have thought he had seen the last of Haaland for at least a season. Since the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel, Denmark has not had an out-and-out number one keeper. Hermansen is the most experienced goalie in their current squad, and he has just three caps.

Hermansen's debut came in a 4-0 win over North Macedonia in the semi-finals of the World Cup playoffs earlier this year. However, his second game came in a defeat to Czechia on penalties in the final. His only other game for the Danes came in a friendly victory over Ukraine.
The West Ham player's main competitor for a starting spot for Denmark is Filip Jörgensen. He is currently on loan at Strasbourg from Chelsea. Jörgensen has two caps, and their other keeper, Andreas Jungdal of Westerlo, is yet to represent his nation at the senior level.

In the Championship, Hermansen will be coming up against solid strikers. However, not the elite of the sport. His Denmark side is in League A of the Nations League, which is the highest division. They are in Group A4, with the four countries mentioned previously. The top two automatically qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
The bottom team of the group will be relegated to League B. Even third place has a chance of relegation. Hermansen has already suffered relegation with Leicester and West Ham. Therefore, he will not want another relegation on his CV.
