Following West Ham's thrilling 2-1 win against Manchester United, the Red Devils made the decision to sack their first-team head coach Erik Ten Hag. Manchester United faced their fourth league defeat in the ongoing Premier League season and are currently fourteenth in the league table.

Last season, Erik Ten Hag led the Red Devils to an eighth-place Premier League finish despite winning the FA Cup against defending Premier League Champions Manchester City. However, Manchester United’s consistently underwhelming performances under Ten Hag led the Red Devils to part ways with him and now they are very close to bring one of West Ham's preferred managerial targets as their new head coach.

"Manchester United are set to pay €10m exit clause for Ruben Amorim to become new manager, here we go."

When former manager David Moyes left the Hammers at the end of the previous season, West Ham were involved in transfer talks to sign Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim as their new manager, but a transfer move didn't materialise. Amorim led Sporting to win their first league title after 19 years in the 2020/21 season and again guided them to win the league in the previous 2023/24 season.

Moreover, Amorim has made a name for himself as one of the elite managers who focus on a more attack-oriented approach. Amorim has helped many young talents such as Goncalo Inacio, Pedro Goncalves and Viktor Gyokeres to become one of the best promising stars in European football. Hence, due to West Ham's young talents and new signings such as Jean-Clair Todibo and Cryscencio Summerville, Amorim would have thrived in the West Ham managerial role.

However, that isn't the case and Amorim is very close to joining Manchester United instead. Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui has registered his third Premier League win as West Ham manager and would want to take consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest and Everton in the upcoming league matches.
