Despite being at Arsenal since 2023, Declan Rice has so far only lifted the Community Shield with the Gunners. However, that is no more than a glorified friendly. The only silverware of note that Rice has won was the Europa Conference League with West Ham United.
Rice started off on Chelsea's books until they released him at the age of 14. He then joined West Ham's academy, which is famed for producing players such as Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, and Rio Ferdinand. The pipeline of players developed at the Hammers had dried up until Rice came along.
Reece Oxford was expected to be the next best player to come through at West Ham. However, he never lived up to the hype after his emphatic debut against Arsenal in 2015. Perhaps the expectation around Oxford allowed Rice to fly under the radar at West Ham initially.
Both Rice and Oxford are the same age. However, the current Arsenal midfielder made his West Ham debut two years after the player who is now without a club following his release from Augsburg.
Rice went on to star for West Ham, and he was linked with all the top teams in the Premier League. Chelsea were interested in bringing him back. Manchester City also wanted him, but it was Arsenal where Rice would land.
Declan Rice would have expected to have won more with Arsenal
The midfielder has starred for Arsenal, but he has been unlucky that his side has finished runners-up in the last couple of Premier League campaigns. This season should be the one where Rice finally lifts another piece of major silverware.
Arsenal are currently leading the Premier League by seven points. However, City, who are second, still have a game in hand on the Gunners. Arsenal and Pep Guardiola's side will also meet in the EFL Cup final on March 22.
Rice's Gunners also have a favorable draw in the FA Cup as they face Southampton of the Championship in the quarter-finals. Arsenal is also still in the Champions League.
One of Rice's pinned photos on Instagram is him with the Europa Conference League trophy. He clearly appreciates his time at West Ham. However, more silverware will likely soon come for him at Arsenal.
