Earlier today, West Ham United announced that Łukasz Fabiański and Adama Traoré would be departing the club at the end of the month when their contracts expire. Surprisingly, Callum Wilson, whose deal with the club is also up this summer, was not mentioned.

There has been speculation that Wilson is to be offered a new contract. ExWhuEmployee posted on social media, " the offer is there, up to Callum whether he takes it or not at this stage I believe."

Wilson could have departed the club in January, following the acquisitions of Taty Castellanos and Pablo. With both players set to depart the club following relegation, Wilson is one player who could remain at the club to do a job in the Championship.

The striker is now 34, but still scored seven goals in 32 Premier League games in the season just past. He notably scored the winner against Tottenham Hotspur, a brace against his former club AFC Bournemouth, and was controversially denied an equalizer by VAR against Arsenal.

Wilson has experience in the Championship with Bournemouth and Coventry. Therefore, he could be useful to Nuno Espirito Santo for next season.

Callum Wilson will have other options

Wilson is from Coventry and came through the ranks at the club. Predominantly, he featured for them in League One before moving to the Cherries. He won the Championship with the Cherries in the 2014/15 season.

West Ham fans will then remember him scoring a hat-trick against them at Upton Park to secure Bournemouth's first Premier League victory. Following a stint at Newcastle United, where he won the EFL Cup, Wilson joined West Ham.

His future is uncertain at the Hammers, and he may have options to stay in the Premier League. He has been linked with Hull City, who have just been promoted via the Championship playoffs. Also, Football Insider, has revealed that "Wilson has emerged as a target for Coventry City this summer as Frank Lampard aims to add expierience to his squad."

The chance to keep on playing top-flight soccer will be very tempting for Wilson. Especially if it is with a return to his hometown club of Coventry. However, he will likely be fighting a relegation battle with them or Hull. Therefore, staying at West Ham at his age with a chance to win a division could be a better bet.
