Former West Ham manager David Moyes has managed the Hammers in two different spells, and guided West Ham to win their first major trophy in 43 years by winning the UEFA Conference League 2022/23. Although Moyes is known for his more defensive and passive approach to the match, the former Manchester United manager brought impressive results at West Ham including leading the Hammers to qualify for three consecutive seasons in European football.

Even after his departure at the end of the previous season, several West Ham players and fans consider him to be one of the best managers in West Ham's history. One of them is Hammers fan favourite Pablo Fornals, who spent five seasons at the club and established himself as a regular starter in the lineup with the creative playmaker scoring 23 goals as well as assisting 18 times in around 200 appearances for West Ham. However, his final season at the club before joining La Liga side Real Betis was rather inconsistent and Moyes often dropped the 28-year-old from the starting lineup in the Premier League, which led several West Ham fans wonder that the duo are not on good terms.

However that isn't the case as recently Pablo Fornals opened up on his playing career at West Ham under Moyes. Speaking to The Athletic, Fornals fondly remembered Moyes's supporting nature during his last season at the London Stadium, saying,

"The manager did a beautiful speech about me in front of everyone. It’s something I will never forget.

Although he wasn’t able to play me week in, week out, that speech made me realise how proud he was of what I’d done and the love he had for me as a person.""

Fornals highlighted this moment as one of his best moments at the club which displays Moyes's brilliant man-management approach as a football manager. Therefore, Moyes has left his legacy at the London Stadium and the Hammers will want to continue their upward trajectory in the Premier League under new manager Julen Lopetegui as well. Despite a struggling start to the Premier League, Julen Lopetegui's side are expected to turn things around in the league after the international break following a convincing 4-1 home win against Ipswich Town.
