Jarrod Bowen says England call-up is “everything you dream of”
By Alex Smith
The biggest tournament in football is a matter of months away now and Bowen is certainly in with a shout of getting a place on the England plane to Qatar. He said:
"“Of course I’ve thought about the World Cup. But this is my first camp and it’s not about wanting to come and go – I want to show what I’m about and cement my place here. That’s the main message to myself. “I have to respect the fact it’s my first, but my main aim is to show what I’m about and respect that I’m here on merit.”"
West Ham manager David Moyes was also praised by Bowen for all the work he has done in turning the talented winger into a player who netted an incredible 12 goals and ten assists in the league. He also scored some vital goals in the Europa League as West Ham made the semi-final. His two goals in the unforgettable quarter-final versus Lyon proved he can live up the big ocassion. Bowen mentioned Moyes saying:
"“He was the one who gave me the opportunity to come to the Premier League in the first place when there’s always question marks about players coming from the Championship, whether they’ll be able to handle the step-up. “He’s managed me really well. This season he’s really got the best out of me and we’ve got a great relationship working together.”"
When asked if transfer rumours surrounding Rice’s West Ham future would distract him in the upcoming England games, Bowen denied they would bother him:
"“I don’t see it as a distraction for Dec. I have seen how good he is, at the Euros and this season he has gone onto another level. “You want to play with the best players and I want to play with him at my club and with England as well.”"
