Tuesday, 31 August at 23:00 BST is the summer transfer deadline for West Ham and the rest of the EPL. Right now, things look bleak, but things can change.

The only senior squad signing for West Ham has been the loan of the French keeper Alphonse Areola. David Moyes claims to need more, but here we are, waiting just like he is. In the ever-changing world of transfers, things can change overnight.

As of now, this window seems like a loss and honestly frustrating as the ups and downs of rumors and links have been higher than usual. You would expect that leading up to this season, everyone surrounding West Ham would want to expand the roster and be ready for Europe. So, with that, what will make this window successful, and can it still be?

In short, yes. With 12 days left, David Moyes still needs a center-back, striker, and more midfield depth. David Moyes gets this, and it’s important to remember that he has been phenomenal in recent windows of getting not only who he wants but perfect fits for the club.

The center-back search has been nothing short of exhausting to follow, and with Nikola Milenkovic staying in Italy, the Hammers will quickly be looking elsewhere. Rumors are flowing now that Marseille wants West Ham to go after Duje Caleta-Car, and Kurt Zuma is still atop Moyes’ wish list. At this point, either one will be considered a win, as long as the deal gets done.

Nothing has been solidified as far as a midfield signing. That might be due to the Hammers hoping to sign Jesse Lingard since his loan was terminated in June or the fact that they can’t seem to find the right fit. Lingard is the perfect fit, and last year was more than enough to settle that argument. With Manchester United looking to sell him off again, the Hammers need to be all in for this.

Lastly, a center forward. No matter how you look at it, the only striker on the squad is Michail Antonio. Miggy is the perfect West Ham No.9, but he needs help. Unlike the above issue, where depth is aplenty in the form of the youth, upfront lacks trusted depth. Linked transfers like Abraham, Ings, and others have all moved, but a few are still out there.

Alassane Plea is back on the radar, and Breel Embolo would be a like-for-like striker as Antonio. If David Moyes can pull it off and get these three positions filled, the window will be a great success. Regardless of the names, trusting in the “Moyesiah” needs to stay in front of everyone’s minds, as he has pulled through before late in the game.
