West Ham transfers: 4 strikers the Hammers have been linked with this summer
By Josh Davey
Ivan Toney
Currently six goals clear at the top of the Championship scorers list, Ivan Toney is no joke when it comes to goals, scoring 26 and assisting a further nine in just 34 games so far this season.
So far this season the English born striker has scored four braces and a hat-trick, and it doesn’t like he has any intention on stopping his goalscoring form coming into the last 11 games of the season.
Toney began his career at boyhood club Northampton Town before joining Newcastle United in 2015, where he had six loan spells in three years before joining Peterborough United in 2018.
Just two seasons in League One were enough to see Toney move to the Championship, where he is playing the best football of his life
Toney only needs five more goals in 11 games to break the record for the most goals in a Championship season – a record currently held by Glenn Murray with 30 in the 2012/13 season for Crystal Palace.
After this season Toney will surely be looking to be playing Premier League football, but with Brentford sitting in joint second on 66 points, it is far from guaranteed he’ll guide his side to promotion – meaning a possible transfer away from the Bees.
