West Ham cult hero, Winston Reid, has been praised by Brentford fans after a promising full debut performance. The defender put in a solid showing in the Bees backline despite ending the match on the losing side.
Winston Reid joined Brentford on loan during the January transfer window. The Kiwi moved to the club as part of a peacemaking operation from West Ham. The two London clubs have had a strained relationship since the deal for Said Benrahma. Should Reid keep up this performance level, then the Bees will be more than happy with the Hammers.
The 32-year-old has struggled over the last few years with constant injuries that have effected Ried ability to play in the Premier League. Reid was loaned to Sporting Kansas City in the MLS and enjoyed a relatively successful spell. When the centre-back returned from his loan spell, there was hope from fans that they would get to see him represent the Hammers one last time.
Winston Reid has impressed Brentford fans on his full debut against QPR. The defender joined the Bees on loan from West Ham in January.
Reid, however, joined Brentford on loan as he wanted guaranteed football. So far, the move is paying off as he has forced himself into the starting line-up and is already impressing. Reid was given a rating of seven out of ten on his full debut. The Kiwi brought his experience to the Bees backline and brought calmness to the backline.
In typical Reid fashion, he was also commanding the defence, dominating from set-pieces and made some crucial clearances from QPR attacks. Though was caught out, like the whole defence, for the two QPR goals. Despite being on the losing side, Bees fans were still impressed with their new defender.
West Ham will be hoping Reid continues to impress in West London. The Hammers have had an interest in multiple Brentford players in the past, and Reid could be used as a sweetener in a potential deal. One name that is being talked about a lot at the moment is Ivan Toney. The striker is in fantastic form for the Bees this season and has arguably been the Championship player of the season already.
Other players that have been linked to the club in the past are Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva and Bryan Mbeumo. David Moyes has a very small squad currently at his disposal and could look to add numbers if the club qualifies for European football next season.
