West Ham can now boast a quartet of FIFA Ultimate Team in-form card upgrades with the latest being bestowed on a long-overdue defensive stalwart.

Don’t look now, but another week has gone by and West Ham players are back in the E-Sports headlines with another in-form card upgrade. This FIFA Ultimate Team upgrade is the fourth from the Hammers this season and is long overdue recognition of one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League.

The defensive dynamo that is Angelo Ogbonna has been buffed and upgraded to an 81 overall centre-back, looking to step into your Ultimate Team right away… unless you want to win, of course.

Unfortunately, Ogbonna lacks the pace to be an elite FUT centre-back so you won’t see him on any top weekend league teams, but for the casual gamer, he has some solid stats and upgrades.

The pace upgrade he received, a +7, puts him at 60 overall which is right in the middle of the pack for centre-backs. His defending also jumped up to 84 from 79 and physical has been buffed to 78 from 74.

While the meta-gamer in you may want to slap a shadow chemistry style on him for the pace and defending buff, a sentinel chem style actually makes him an 89 overall centre-back and a very usable piece player. Something that is not measurable on in-game stats is his height and at 6’3″ with 80 base jumping, he will be solid in the air.

Ogbonna’s upgrade comes after back-to-back 1-0 clean sheet wins for the Hammers and makes him the fourth member of his team to have an in-form card. Jarrod Bowen, Lukasz Fabianski, and Vladimir Coufal precede Ogbonna and round out a solid backline plus winger of upgraded West Ham players.

Predicting who will be next is difficult, however between Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio there has to be a striker in-form coming this season, plus a long-range banger from Declan Rice could see the club captain step up as well. For now, congratulations Ogbonna on a well-earned in-form! See you in-game!
