Fresh off their 3-0 win thumping of Leicester City, West Ham United are turning their attentions back to transfer business.

West Ham put in a complete performance against the Foxes, but there was one player absent from the squad. After his goal against Everton on Wednesday, Robert Snodgrass may have expected a different weekend.

Despite maybe expecting a role in the match-day squad, Snodgrass has instead been left out and is rumoured to be in talks with Celtic over a loan deal. According to the Daily Record, the Hoops have tabled a loan offer for the midfielder.

Snodgrass is 33-years-old and will want to be playing regular football before he eventually hangs-up his boots. Regular game-time will be on offer for Snodgrass at Celtic as the standard of football is much lower than that of the Premier League.

The Scot could have an excellent impact for Celtic as the pace of the SPL is much lower than in the Premier League. Snodgrass could be linking back up with former West Ham striker Albian Ajeti, who was purchased by the Scottish champions earlier in the window.

Celtic have already signed Albian Ajeti from West Ham this summer.

West Ham should only consider loaning Snodgrass out if they have a replacement lined-up. The. Hammers midfield could start to look very thin. Josh Cullen is close to joining Anderlecht, leaving Mark Noble and Jack Wilshere as the remaining back-ups to Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

There are issues with those options; however, Wilshere is continuously prone to injury, and Noble is well into his thirties now. So losing Snodgrass without a replacement would be a shame for West Ham, especially as the Scots utility has made him a useful squad player.

Since signing from Hull City in 2017, Snodgrass has played 82 times for the Hammers, scoring 11 goals and provided 17 assists. The Scot scored some memorable goals during his time at the club, including great strikes against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton.

The deal should it go through will have to be wrapped up by tomorrow evening as that is when the international transfer window shuts.
