West Ham are heading into their second game of their Premier League campaign. The Hammers will be travelling across London to take on in-form Arsenal.

So it is that time of the week again where we at Green Street Hammers try to predict the outcome of West Ham’s match. This week, it has been a bit of a stretch to get some positive predictions for the match.

Aaron – Arsenal 2-2 West Ham United

After a much-needed victory against Charlton, West Ham travels to North London this evening to take on the Gunners. Club morale was seemingly at an all-time low, so Tuesday’s match should hopefully improve the mindset in the Irons camp ahead of this London Derby (although Diangana’s goal set twitter alight once again).

Hopefully, performances by Haller, Lanzini, Anderson and Masuaku have given Moyes some selection headaches. Ideally, I would love to see Michail Antonio or Anderson out on the left wing to inject some pace onto that side in order to punish Arsenal on the counter. This would bring Sebastien Haller in up top while I would also slot Masuaku at left-back (both him and Cresswell are dodgy defensively so may as well have the one that offers something in the attack).

If Moyes makes these changes then I think there is a chance West Ham could nick something today. After all, in the last matchup between these two clubs right before Lockdown West Ham carried the play but just didn’t take their chances. I’ll go out on a limb and hopes Moyes takes the necessary changes and predict a 2-2 draw. (If Moyes trots out the same tired line-up as last week then I throw my hands up)

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Adam – Arsenal 2-2 West Ham United

Call it a miracle or at the very least a comedy of defensive errors from both teams, but West Ham have enough skill to get a result at Arsenal and Arsenal have enough skill to poke holes in an already porous Hammers defence.

I like Haller and Soucek to get on the scoresheet with set-piece goals. If Moyes’ team is going to nab a goal or two it’ll likely be on set pieces, so the towering efforts of both aforementioned players will be needed. Look for Arsenal to dictate play but be restricted to fast break play to actually finish their chances.

Justin – Arsenal 3-1 West Ham United

Arsenal’s new signings Willian and Gabriel looked superb in their debut against Fulham last weekend. With the Aubameyang contract extension, this Arsenal squad received a huge confidence booster. A leaky west ham defence should continue that trend as Aubameyang gets a brace. Haller gets the West Ham goal too little too late.

Louis – Arsenal 3-1 West Ham United

After the League Cup victory over Charlton, the positivity surrounding the club has improved somewhat.

Players who haven’t been starting, such as Anderson, Haller and Masuaku, all played well and now look to be in contention to start against the Gunners.

With that in mind, I think that we will put in a much better performance than what was served up against Newcastle.

I believe that we will pose a threat to their defence and create chances, but it is just a matter of taking them, which we have failed to do so often in the past against Arsenal.

And ultimately, the home side’s attack is likely to prove too much for our weak defence, with the likes of Aubameyang and William hitting early season form.

Overall, I don’t think that the result will go our way, but the display will encourage the fans as we continue our run of difficult fixtures.

Henry – Arsenal 0-1 West Ham United

The team showed a big improvement against Charlton in the mid-week game, of course, the Addicks are a League One side, but confidence can still be taken from the match.

Should Moyes, choose the right lineup then the Hammers have every chance of hurting Arsenal. In the game against the Gunners at the Emirates last season West Ham were unlucky not to come away with a result.

So the prediction is very much a case of the head against heart. As everyone else has gone for a loss or draw, I will break the mould and predict a famous Hammers win, Felipe Anderson will score and carry on his form from Tuesday.
