West Ham’s next game in the Premier League is a tough trip across London to face Mikel Arteta’s high-flying Arsenal.

The first game of the Premier League season ended in defeat for West Ham as they were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle. Arsenal had a very different start to their Premier League campaign, putting three goals past newly-promoted Fulham, which has lifted the Gunners to the top of the League.

West Ham have shown some life since their defeat to Newcastle. The Hammers beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 in the League Cup, Sebastien Haller scored his first two goals of the season, and Felipe Anderson also got himself off the mark.

TEAM NEWS

After making ten changes to the team for the match against Charlton, it is very likely that David Moyes will make a number of changes again. First-team regulars, Lukasz Fabianski, Angelo Ogbonna, Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen and Ryan Fredericks, are likely to take back the places in the squad.

After the positive result against Charlton, Moyes will have to think about giving some of the players from that match a chance in the League. Goalscorers Haller and Anderson and the impressive Arthur Masuaku and Josh Cullen could be rewarded with places in the team to face Arsenal.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The Gunners, on the other hand, have had a whole week’s rest after their victory against Fulham, and will most likely stick with the same side. Mikel Arteta’s side will have received a massive boost by the news that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new deal at the club, putting an end to questions over his future.

PREDICTED STARTING XI’S

West Ham United: Formation – 4-3-3

Fabianski, Masuaku, Ogbonna, Diop, Fredericks, Rice, Soucek, Cullen, Anderson, Bowen, Haller.

Arsenal: Formation – 3-4-3

Leno, Tierney, Gabriel, Holding, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Elneny, Bellerin, Aubamyang, Lacazette, Willian.

Match Prediction

It is going to be a difficult match travelling to an in-form Arsenal side, who have amassed an incredible attacking group of players. This Arsenal of attacking options will cause the Hammers real trouble. For West Ham to keep the Gunners out, the defence will have to on top form.

Against Charlton the players showed that they could attack and score goals, should Moyes play them in the correct system and their right positions. Tomas Soucek could be crucial in this match. The Czech’s ability in defence and attack could help keep Arsenal at bay. Soucek also is competent going forward, and his ariel ability could wreak havoc in the Gunners defence.

Despite the fact the Hammers secret weapon, Arsenal should still come out on top. The North London side should have too much-attacking ability for the defence.
