West Ham today announced that the team shall be heading to Scotland for a pre-season training camp.

David Moyes will be welcoming the West Ham first-team back from their holidays this weekend. Once all the players have taken their COVID-19 tests and are given the all-clear, they will travel on Tuesday 18th of August to the manager’s homeland for training camp.

The training camp is set to last for a five-day period, and it will aim to restore the player’s fitness after their time away. This camps will be crucial for preparing the team for pre-season fixtures as they may not have been keeping themselves in check during their break.

One player who may be ahead of the curve is Felipe Anderson. The Brazilin struggled to find his best form last season but has been in the gym regularly during the off-season to make sure he starts next season in the best possible way. The 27-year-old looks set to stay at West Ham after rumours of his imminent departure were wrong.

When the players return from their training camp, they will be preparing for their first two pre-season fixtures in London. The Hammers will be taking on League One and Championship sides in Ipswich Town and newly-promoted Wycombe Wanderers.

Moyes will be splitting his squad in two for these matches. One half will travel the eighty miles to the Portman Road Stadium to take on League One Ipswich Town. The other half will travel the shorter distance of fifty miles to Adams Park to face Adebayo Akinfenwa‘s Wycombe Wanderers.

There will, unfortunately, be no fans present at the games as the country is still working its way out of the Coronavirus pandemic. More pre-season games are set to follow and will be announced in due course. It is more than likely they will be against other domestic sides, so the team does not have to deal with quarantining themselves.
