The announcement has happened, West Ham and the Premier League will return on the 15th June with Project Restart. Here at Green Street Hammers, we thought we would discuss what we are most excited to see when football returns.

What I’m looking forward to the most is the competition. I’m a competitive person by nature which I think is one of the main reasons I love sport. I’m excited to play out the season and earn the right to stay in the Premier League, build off a solid run in, and challenge for Europe next year.

When the Hammers return to play, it’s key they pick up where they left off. A strong formation, best players being picked, and structurally sound. They deserved better against Liverpool, slammed Southampton, and should have won against Arsenal. If that form keeps up, I am completely excited to see where this team can get riding on the back of momentum.

Outside of systemic play, I want to see more of Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek. The two new additions have been transformative since joining, and their growth will be awesome to monitor. As well, can Lanzini force his way back in? What can we expect from Haller and Anderson? What about the return of Jack Wilshere. Plenty of exciting storylines ahead!

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

I can’t wait for football to be back. It’s disappointing that no fans will be able to attend, but that is the only way football will return. It will be an exciting, but nervous, end to the season, let’s hope West Ham are able to beat the drop.

There is definitely an intrigue to see new signing Jarrod Bowen get a run of games and see how he can really impact the Premier League. This is followed by the club almost having a fully fit squad for the first in what seems like forever. The chat of the quality in the Hammers squad might finally be seen.

I’m most excited about being a step closer to fans return to the grounds and creating that precious atmosphere we all crave. I cannot wait for the first game back with fans, the atmosphere will be electric.

More than anything I am just looking forward to the competition on the pitch. I have missed the matches, I have missed West Ham. I missed the players. I have missed seeing the outcome of the matches and the highs and lows that come after each result.

In particular with the re-start I am very excited and curious, maybe even optimistic to see how the Hammers approach and conquer a 9 game sprint to the finish line. The squad appears to be fully healthy for the first time since……when? On paper that gives the club an advantage in skill in almost every position vs almost every other club in that group of six teams fighting to avoid the bottom three.

There are some position battles that are going to be interesting for David Moyes to navigate through starting with this current training period.  The competition within the squad to make the starting XI or to be on the bench should help the club overall. It also gives the Manager the best options when putting together his ideas for formation, style of play and the best group of 11. Since Moyes didn’t start the season with WHU he now has a true training camp to answer these questions.

The fact that the games are being played at all rather than leaving safety or relegation to a mathematical formula is advantageous to West Ham and really to any other club.  I for one can’t wait for the restart to see how this all plays out across the league. Bring on Wolves! COYI!

Next. West Ham will return: An open letter.. dark

Growing up in America, my West Ham experience has, for the most part, been watching them on TV. Except for the rare few occasions of making the trip to London, that’s been my way to extort my West Ham energy. So, with the news of a return imminent, my life has almost been fulfilled once more.

My mornings are always child-filled adventures but with something other than West Ham football, or sports in general. Getting football back is an added piece to my missing routine. Wake up with the kids, get coffee or tea brewing, and cheering on the Hammers. I mean, I put my kids to bed by singing bubbles because they miss hearing it so often.

So, football, coming back, means my mornings are restored. On the pitch related, I’m looking forward to seeing the progress of Tomas Soucek, Pablo Fornals, and Jared Bowen. I’m also excited to see Felipe get another crack because we are going to need all of them to stay afloat and not fall into relegation.
