When the Premier League finally returns, West Ham United will finally be back in action against a very talented Wolves team.

Although the joy of West Ham coming back is sweeping the fan base as it should, the Hammers have not had much success against Wolves since their promotion to the Premier League in 2018. The Hammers have failed to score against Wolves so far, and have been outclassed each time. That is why a fast start against Wolves this time may be the key to success.

Wolves are known for their solid defensive structure and blistering pace on the wings. If the Hammers go down early in this match, it may be tough for us to bring it back.  An early goal could be vital, as it could take a lot of the pressure off of West Ham and allow them to be at their best.

Yes, Wolves will have a lot of pressure as well, as the club are currently fighting to get into a Champions League spot in the table, but the Hammers are fighting for their Premier League lives. The added pressure of not performing against Wolves could be lifted should West Ham score first.

One of the biggest issues with this West Ham squad has always been confidence. If the players lose confidence, we have seen games get out of hand very quickly. However, if the team can be led properly and keep their composure and confidence throughout the entire 90 minutes, I am confident that the Irons can get a result out of the Wolves match.

West Ham will return: An open letter.. dark. Next

The Hammers will be thrust into the gauntlet early once project restart begins, having to play Wolves, Spurs, and Chelsea in rapid succession. If West Ham can have some decent success early and keep their confidence high, then the next run-in of games should be manageable enough to gain enough points to stay up this season. It will be one wild run, buckle up Hammers fans!
