The Green Street Hammers Staff Predict: West Ham v Southampton
Tomorrow West Ham take on Southampton in a must-win matchup. The Green Street Hammers staff gave their thoughts ahead of the match with critical excitement.
Ok maybe not all of us were overly excited… maybe skeptically interested is a better word but either way, this match is more than even must-win for West Ham, this match will set the course for the rest of the season. With that… predictions for tomorrow’s match await you.

West Ham 3-2 Southampton
If you were curious who the skeptical one was, it’s me… but all in all, I think there is no way that the Hammers can lose this match. The loss to Tomas Soucek has opened up the door to Pablo Fornals and that will get the attack moving in the right direction.
West Ham was on one Monday night and I think they will keep that momentum up for at least one more week leaving Southampton the victims of timing. Danny Ings and company will keep the Saints close in this one but ultimately, the Hammers will run the day.
Besides Fornals, Felipe Anderson will get on the board and score a brace erasing the doubters that he is back and ready to help his club. Saturday will be a day of rejuvenation and good times before the awkwardly difficult stretch keeps on for the Hammers.

After last Monday’s performance against the eventual champions Liverpool, there is a cause for optimism going into this fixture against the Saints.
Whilst, in the end, it proved to be a heartbreaking result, nobody could argue with the commitment that the team showed, along with the quality of the actual performance where the Hammers would have been worthy victors had things gone their way.
If the same attitude can be applied at London Stadium this time around, West Ham should be favorites for this match as the crowd will no doubt get behind them. Of course, for this to happen, individual mistakes need to be cut out which have haunted the team over the last few games.
David Moyes needs to set his side out to attack from the get-go, and such bravery will likely prove rewarding with three precious points.

West Ham 5 – 1 Southampton
There needs to be a massive response for the Hammers after looking to have turned a page against Liverpool and it needs to be a fast and relentless offensive onslaught. Maybe five is too many to predict, but go big or go home.
I think we see Jarrod Bowen as a starter for the first time in this match and think he has at least two goals in the bag. Forget about Southampton in this match, their players are not as good as West Ham’s, it’s at home for the Hammers, and there needs to be a convincing effort if the Irons want to beat the drop. Expect goals and a lot of them.

West Ham 2-0 Southampton
This game against the Saints is a must-win game for West Ham as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone. The Hammers put in a decent display at Anfield on Monday night and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. If David Moyes’ men can put in another inspired performance, then they will surely come away with a positive result.
One issue as an abductor injury to Tomáš Souček. The Czech Republic international has become a key member of the West Ham midfield due to his physical presence and work-rate on the pitch. Fortunately for the Hammer’s Southampton will be without key-men Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo, this should hugely weaken the Saints attack.
Fans will be hoping to see Moyes go with a more attacking line-up at the London Stadium. Jarrod Bowen could be due to start a match as he has impressed in his two cameos against Manchester City and Liverpool. Jeremy Ngakia should also be in the starting squad following his impressive performance at Anfield. The youngster defended well against the countries best attack and was also able to show his attacking ability on occasion.
West Ham has won their last four games against the Saints and should use the opportunity to get back to winning ways and get out of the bottom three.
The optimism is back folks and it couldn’t come at a better time. Just like last time out, this match might get nervy with some interesting calls but with an Irons victory comes hope and that is exactly what is needed right now. Be loud, be proud, and COME ON YOU IRONS!
