The loss of the West Ham midfielder for up to 3 weeks comes at a bad time. However, with him out it gives new life to another Hammer that will fill the void well.

Seeing Tomas Soucek go down for West Ham in a match where he was playing spectacular was tough to watch. The initial reaction was negative but then the light came. The missing Pablo Fornals was the choice to in as a sub for the injured midfielder and the rest was history for that match.

Fornals almost immediately made an impact in the match as his second-half goal gave the Hammers a surprise lead for a little while at Anfield. It sounds almost unpopular to say that the loss of a good player is ok, and that’s not the intent of this as we clearly wish him well but with the depth that the Hammers have, the worry isn’t there as much.

The clear and instant fill in for Soucek needs to be Fornals. His form from the Liverpool match and beyond should clearly make him the starting in Soucek’s place. His growth since joining the Hammers has been amazing and over the past season has grown into someone who should be an everyday starter.

Truly, West Ham is in good hands with him filling in for Soucek over the next few weeks and I would argue that he needs to just have the job on a permanent basis even after the Czechs return to the first team.

Fornals keeps the same style of play in the game that Soucek did as both are good at defending and pushing way forward into an advanced attacking role which is so key for the Hammers currently.

The previously talked about options would be either to throw Mark Noble in a more advanced role and switch up the formation or bring back the always nervy, sometimes woeful Carlos Sanchez. But hopefully, Moyes has some sense about him and plays the Spaniard for the foreseeable future.

So as weird as it sounds, the injury to the rising star in Tomas Soucek isn’t going to be as bad as it sounds with the likes of Pablo Fornals just bursting at the seems to get back to first-team football. And when he does come back, the two of them linked up with Rice could make for a dangerous, relegation saving, type of midfield.
