Many West Ham fans have been calling for David Moyes to play Pablo Fornals and have been very confused about the Spaniard’s exclusion from the team. Fornals was missing from the matchday squad against Manchester City despite being one of the club’s most improved player this season.

Coming on as a substitute for the injured Tomas Soucek early in the second half Fornals quickly adapted to the speed of the game and made his time count. Fornals got himself on the scoresheet in fantastic fashion. In the 54th minute, the Hammer’s put together a good move which culminated with Fornals volleying in a Declan Rice cross. This goal gave West Ham an unlikely lead against Liverpool and really put the future champions under pressure.

Fornals also contributed towards the defensive side of the game easing the Soucek shaped hole in the West Ham midfield. The 24-year-old must have surely proven to manager David Moyes that he needs to be a regular on the pitch for West Ham in their hunt for Premier League safety.
