West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Heated rivals, a London Derby, a relegation battle? The storylines are endless and unpredictable, much like our weekly predictions.

Once again all 7 of the Green Street Hammer staff got together to give our best-educated guess as to what is going to happen this weekend for West Ham. However, the same positivity that was once there, might be fading and fast.

West Ham 0-1 Spurs

To be honest I have tried my best to stay optimistic throughout the early season. However, this current run of form mixed with horrendous goalkeeping play has led my optimism down the toilet. The news of Poch being axed and Jose getting the nod has all but given me hope but how much?

Not enough! Although I think the Hammers will come out swinging and playing with more heart they won’t have anyone against this Spurs team. They will be going against a side that is somewhat also in the relegation battle and will be looking to bounce back as well.

When you have two forces that are attempting to complete the same task the same way but against each other, only one can win and in this matchups case, it’ll be the Hotspur.

West Ham 0-2 Spurs

Well, I didn’t think it would be a Spurs side not commanded by Poch we faced this season, but here we are. We’re not the first London side to fire our manager this season and to some fans, that’s probably a big surprise, although, with massive fees involved in Pellegrini’s contract, I don’t think we’ll be firing him unless things get really dire. And things could look bleak after this match.

I don’t see how we’re going to beat Spurs if we play the way we have been recently. The midfield needs to play in a more dynamic fashion and we must supply Haller more readily. If we don’t give our striker chances then we’re not going to score regularly. And if we don’t have Fabianski in-goal, then we need to keep the ball away from our own goal for as long as possible. That being said, I think they’ll have too much quality for us this weekend.

West Ham 0-3 Spurs

I was cautiously optimistic going into this London Derby with Pochettino in the away dugout. Spurs hadn’t registered a Premier League away win under him in nearly a year, and are only just ahead of us in the table. But with Mourinho now at the helm, while I’m not sure how they’ll fare long-term, I am confident that you will see an immediate impact in terms of results.

Players will find that extra burst of energy that they’ve been lacking in the opening semester of the season, and will all be fighting for a place in Jose’s team. As for West Ham. I just can’t see us improving any time soon. I have no faith that Pellegrini will change the system to get better results, while the players look so demotivated.

Not to mention the conundrum of having Roberto or David effing Martin in-goal. I’ll be cheering us on anyway and hopefully, I shall be proved wrong!

West Ham 1-2 Spurs

If this was a “normal” Spurs-West Ham match you could throw all the stats out the present form out the window. When these teams play anything can happen and has in the recent past. I would probably naively be predicting a Hammer win.

But for this London derby, there are two huge X factors at play that really do force supporters and pundits alike to wonder what’s going to happen. Obviously the big one is the Spurs sacking of Mauricio Pochettino just three days ago and replacing him with Jose Mourinho. The other one is the fact that we are coming out of another international break. It’s an opportunity for one, or both clubs to come out of it firing.

I hope Manuel Pellegrini shows me that he has really been working with the side and he comes with changes to the XI. I know changing the formation is too much to ask. (if he does something out of character like play three at the back then all predictions are null and void)

I have my doubts. On the other side of the pitch, I have zero doubt that the Spurs players are going to be trying to impress their new Gaffer. This move will inject energy into their club. That’s why unfortunately I see another West Ham loss.

West Ham 1-1 Spurs

It will be an inspired performance from Pellegrini’s men as the Hammers try to get back to winning ways against Tottenham and their new manager Jose Mourinho. The Hammers play well but simply struggling to break down Spurs in an entertaining draw at the London Stadium.

West Ham 1-0 Spurs

I think it will be 1-0 to West Ham. The players are always more fired up when it’s Tottenham and I think they’ll be playing for Pellegrini. I think Haller will score and play well and we might see Antonio come on in the 2nd half which will certainly lift us if it happens.

Ogbonna will hopefully come back in and Fredericks should start over Zabaleta. It’s definitely a crucial game for Rice if Noble isn’t going to be fit for it as he will have to control that midfield. Spurs are totally out of form and I think we can get a much-needed win against them which could save Pellegrini and our season.

Adam

West Ham 0-2 Spurs

For the first time this season I am predicting a West Ham loss, and appropriately so. Spurs have the new manager bump waiting to push them past the Hammers and Harry Kane spent his time off preying on lower opposition and getting a heater going in international play.

Sure, the Hammers always tend to turn up against Spurs but I just don’t see it right now. Pellegrini needs to stick to his ways and play the same way he has been and is also keeping Roberto in-goal. With both of these factors contributing to the current situation at hand, there is just no way the Hammers steal a win here.

The emotions are low around here as they are around most things West Ham related. If the fans can get behind the players and the players can use that as motivation who knows what Saturday will bring, but the hope is low.
