The English Premier League is back from the ever longing international break and with it, West Ham football. The Hammers had quite a lot of players playing for their countries over the past two weeks and it leaves us to question if one of them should start or not.

The player that comes into question is West Ham United jewel, Manuel Lanzini. The obvious first thought is yes and why not? He has been red-hot and was called up by the South American giants, Argentina to play over the past few weeks. With his last match ending on Tuesday, he is slated to arrive back in East London on Friday evening.

As always at The Green Street Hammers, we don’t want to give you just the obvious answer. So to give you a more in-depth look, we look to our favorite partner site, HammersPolls.com to find out what the West Ham Pulse around this topic is.

Hammers Polls posted on Twitter 2 days ago the following tweet: Lanzini will be the last player to return from international duty and is expected to arrive back in London on Friday night. If he plays for Argentina, he will have 2 clear days to rest before the Villa match on Monday. Does Manuel start at Villa Park? As a forum, we were pretty split on the idea but as of now, 64% say yes.

Although no one really knows what Pellegrini will do come Monday afternoon, there are compelling arguments for both answers. For yes the argument would be that West Ham should keep the same winning XI as we argued earlier in the post. Lanzini didn’t really feature too much and should be right back and ready to go.

For anyone that said no, that might be the safe bet. For starters, the Hammers actually have depth in the midfield and it would be good to see Fornals get a run-out. Also, with Lanzini just fresh off of injury, you don’t want to overdo it and risk losing him again, depth or not.

Next. Rice won't be leaving West Ham anytime soon. dark

Either way, West Ham will face Aston Villa Monday night at Villa Park in a much-anticipated match between two Claret and Blue clubs. The Hammers will be making this trip for the first time in 3 years and looking to make it 4 wins in a row. Until then, COME ON YOU IRONS!
