As West Ham closed out their summer transfer window, many were happy with how the board handled the window. One player, in particular, Albian Ajeti was a praised signing and we might see him sooner than believed.

Just to back brief you on the newest West Ham signing if you don’t already know, he appeared in 43 matches for FC Basel, scoring 21 total times, and assisting on 11 occasions. Last season alone, he played and scored in 4 different competitions to include both the Europa and Champions League qualifiers.

The 22-year-old from Switzerland was lauded by Mario Husillos in a statement from the Hammer’s official website stating, “We are very happy to welcome Albian to West Ham United. He is another very young player who we believe can have a big future at the club.” Ajeti is an aggressive forward with pace who likes to play in the box. Well, he might be showing us as soon as Saturday.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The revealing of Sebastien Haller being questionable to play by Pellegrini yesterday came as a bit of a shocker and made matters worse since the Hammer last match out was a 5-0 thumping by Manchester City. If Haller cannot make it then the only other options are Chicharito, Antonio, and the main focus of this article, Albian Ajeti.

The first thought is either Chicha or Antonio. Both different in their own rights but have experience and some success as a West Ham’s frontman. Earlier today our own Jeff Catlin wrote about how they could do fine as backups to Haller but their question marks are too big.

This might be the perfect opportunity for Albian Ajeti to take advantage of an unfortunate circumstance. I doubt that we see the young Switz born player start for West Ham against Brighton, but I would not at all be surprised to see him come off the bench and perform well.

Next. Hammers midfield will have to be the controlling factor against Brighton. dark

Last week the Hammers could never get going and on the opposite side of things, Brighton took full advantage of Watford’s errors, errors that if prevented would’ve seen that match look different. Ajeti is the kind of player that can get in a force Brighton to move back and get into a vulnerable spot.
