With West Ham United’s first EPL match just 5 days away, many fans and pundits alike still are curious about the happenings around the Hammers forward slot. Haller is the starter but we still have to wonder, Which version of Chicharito will West Ham United see this season?

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The 31-year-old Mexican international has been at times a savior for West Ham United and while during other times a complete bust. If you go back and look at his 13 years of professional football, you would see a lot of the same, extreme highs and unflattering lows.

Last season for the Hammers he played is 25 Premier League matches scoring 7 times and assisting 3. Scoring braces twice, in the total of 5 matches he scored, West Ham were victorious. Which in part leads me to the first version of Javier Hernandez, he gets to the right place at the right times.

The fox in the box is another solid nickname for the Mexican and why not because after all, every PL goal he has ever scored has come from within the box. Chicha seemly can always find a way to be right where he is needed to be fed or catch a rebound off the keeper and he came through in a few clutch situations last season for West Ham.

The other more recently true version of Chicha is the lulls in his game, the times when he can’t play alone upfront or get in the right spot for the pass. His game is far too often determined by the players around him which saw him struggle the other 20 PL games he was apart of. For someone with so much upside, it’s still shocking for me to see him struggle so much.

He has a love for the club and they, in turn, share the respect as he was given the number 9 shirt which means so much for Hammer’s history. There will also be a big supporting cast for him to feed off this season when he is in the match so the story seems yet to be written as we all need him to play at his high mark and push on for Europe.
