West Ham have not yet been active in the transfer window, but their rivals have. The Irons need to act fast if they’re to hold their ground in the Premier League.

It’s always tough for clubs. People don’t want to sell but offers are flying around left right and centre. As such it’s always hard to work out what is going on and who is close to what. However West Ham don’t seem that close to anything right now.

The fans are not enjoying the boards indecision, especially as we keep getting ‘close’ to signings. January is tough, but we can’t afford to sit behind the competition. You don’t stay in the Premier League by standing still, so who’s signed who?

Hull

Hull are in dire straits at the moment, but they’re trying their best not to go down. They’ve signed Niasse on loan from Everton in an attempt to boost their goals and Evandro from Porto to provide creativity. Can they stay up?

They will certainly give it everything, but they will find it hard. Especially as West Ham are after Snodgrass as part of project Payet cleanup. But still, the point stands, they’ve moved faster than the Irons.

Crystal Palace

Sam Allardyce knows what he’s doing at this point of the season, and in this situation. So he’s obviosuly identified that Crystal Palace need a new midfielder with some energy, because he’s got hold of Leicester’s Keffrey Schlupp.

It’s not a small fee, thought to be around £12m. This is a quick move considering it’s still early in the month and he’s not been at the helm very long. West Ham have been aware of their shortcomings for some while, but made no moves. This needs to change.

Swansea

It was a move that didn’t get any media build up, but the Swans have got one of the most creative players of the Dutch league signed. It was a low fee for a player that could prove critical, but there are some risks.

A player who has lead the assists chart over the past few years to not get snapped up by a bigger club sets off warnings. Will he go missing too often? Swansea have taken a risk here, but as this is January this is a tough decision time. It seems Swansea aren’t going to sit around wondering, they’ve viewed this as a chance to see what’s going on.

Boro

Boro haven’t managed to secure many players yet, but they are aware of their shortcomings. They are failing on the offensive end, despite having clinical finisher Negredo to help them out. As such they’ve looked to Rudy Gestede, who was at Villa, to help Negredo in and around the opposition goal.

They are also reportedly chasing Stoke’s Bojan, who would give them another spark. This seems to be in response to Leicester’s attempts to sign Gaston Ramirez. Despite Ramirez’s form this season I would take the swap. Bojan is a classy player and they’re likely to profit from the swap. He’s certainly give them a bit of extra electricity around the box.

Everton

Out of all of the teams on this list, Everton are the team West Ham should be aiming to match. Here are an old team with a decent amount of cash looking to push themselves into European contention and fight the big boys. They showed ambition in the summer, and they’re doing it again now.

The signing of Morgan Schneiderlin shows that Koeman does not want to keep letting games slip away as the season continues. He is a savvy player and was horrifically underutilized at United. The fee of 20m shows the kind of money you have to spend to get quality away fomr the big sides.

They’ve also looked to the future, signing Ademola Lookman from Charlton. The youngster is a top talent, and scored on his debut against Manchester City. These are the moves the sides at this point in the table should be making.

West Ham need to step it up. Because right now, we’ve moving backwards compared to all of these teams. And after a bad start, that’s very dangerous territory.
