Freddie Potts has been linked with a surprise move to Club Brugge. Niclas Fullkrug could return to Serie A with Lazio, whilst Edson Alvarez is now wanted by Real Sociedad and his former club Ajax.
Freddie Potts linked with Club Brugge
Potts impressed at times when he got an opportunity to play in the Premier League last season. However, he was sent off in an FA Cup match against Burton Albion, which led to a three-game suspension in the league.
The midfielder did not feature in any of the Hammers' final four Premier League matches of the season. The Hammers were relegated from the division, but the Championship looked to be a league where Potts could get more game time. He already has experience of English football's second tier on loan at Portsmouth.
So far in pre-season, Potts has made just a substitute appearance against Rangers. His time at West Ham could be coming to an end. The Belgian journalist, Sacha Tavolieri, posted on X: "Potts is the priority option to replace Raphaël Onyedika! Advanced talks are underway between the clubs to reach a deal that could earn West Ham United €12M. The Englishman has already given the green light to join the Blauw-Zwart."
Many West Ham fans will be sad to see Potts, who came through the club's academy, go. This is especially true as he is the son of Hammers legend Steve Potts.
Niclas Fullkrug could return to Serie A
Niclas Fullkrug did not impress whilst on loan at AC Milan from West Ham last summer. He scored just once in 20 games for the Serie A side. However, other Italian teams are willing to take a chance on him.
Alfredo Pedullo reported (translated from Italian), "In recent days, he has been linked to Genoa and Lazio."
Fullkrug has not featured for West Ham this pre-season, and it will be best for all parties if he leaves this summer. It is surprising that Fullkrug still appears to be in demand, given his poor form and injury-proneness in recent seasons.
Real Sociedad and Ajax want Edson Alvarez
Edson Alvarez was recently heavily linked with a move to FC Köln. However, the transfer did not come to fruition. Despite this, other top European sides are interested in the midfielder.
According to De Telegraf (translated from Dutch), "Ajax is making serious efforts to bring back Edson Alvarez... Time is of the essence, as the Dutch record champion faces competition from Spanish side Real Sociedad."
Alvarez has also not yet featured for West Ham this pre-season. He spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce, and it looks like he will be set for another transfer this summer.
