Jose Mourinho is one of the all-time greatest managers in club football, and the Fenerbahce manager has previously won the Premier League thrice at Chelsea. Moreover, Mourinho has managed three top Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs, and is one of the most successful head-coaches in the English top flight.
Recently, Fenerbahce played a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League and Mourinho was given a red-card as he wasn't satisfied with a few referee decisions in that match. After the match, Mourinho expressed his opinions about the match and revealed his ambition to return to the Premier League, saying,
Three-time Premier League winner could join West Ham to return to the Premier League
"The best thing I have to do is when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn’t play in Uefa competition.
- Jose Mourinho
So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I’m ready to go."
Further, Mourinho highlighted that he doesn't want to manage a club playing European football, and thus, could be interested in joining West Ham in a few years. The Hammers assembled a brilliant squad with nine new signings during the transfer window, but haven't managed to consistently take good results in the Premier League.
Current manager Julen Lopetegui is rumoured to be sacked in the upcoming weeks if West Ham don't take some important wins against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Everton. If that happens to be the case, West Ham could consider approaching Mourinho regarding a possible managerial role next season, and could bring a caretaker manager if he agrees to become the new Hammers manager next season.
Mourinho guided Manchester United to win three trophies in his debut season at Old Trafford when the Red Devils were struggling in the previous seasons. Then he led Tottenham Hotspurs to reach the Carabao Cup final as well, thus, Mourinho could inspire West Ham to win a few Cup Competitions in the next few seasons.
Although Lopetegui staying at West Ham isn't ruled out, the Hammers should consider bringing a result-oriented world-class manager such as Mourinho if West Ham couldn't finish inside the top-ten position after the first half of their league campaign.
