West Ham United play Brentford in another crucial Premier League tie this weekend, so we are taking the opportunity to look at the top five players who represented both clubs.

The top five West Ham and Brentford players

1. Saïd Benrahma

Jarrod Bowen's winner against Fiorentina is the goal everyone remembers from the Europa Conference League final. However, it was Saïd Benrahma who had scored from the penalty spot to give the Hammers the lead.

Benrahma was with Nice before he joined Brentford in 2018. He was a very good player for the Bees in the Championship, where he scored 27 goals with 23 assists in 83 games. However, Benrahma could not quite help them to promotion. They came close in 2020, but lost to Fulham in the playoff final.

The Algerian then joined West Ham, initially on loan. The move was then made permanent so that the Hammers could sign Jesse Lingard on loan. Benrahma's stint at West Ham coincided with the club competing regularly in Europe.

In total, Benrahma scored 24 goals with 20 assists in 155 games for the Hammers. He then returned to France to play for Olympique Lyonnais and now plays for Neom in the Saudi Pro League.

2. John Dick

John Dick is one of West Ham's greatest goal scorers. In total, he found the back of the net 176 times for the Hammers. However, no silverware was claimed during his stint at the club between 1953 and 1962.

Dick then joined Brentford, with whom he won the Fourth Division. He earned one cap for Scotland, which came against England at Wembley Stadium. He finished his career with Gravesend & Northfleet (now Ebbsfleet United). He passed away in 2000, at the age of 70.

3. Winston Reid

Winston Reid is a West Ham United legend for scoring the final goal at Upton Park as the Hammers defeated Manchester United 3-2. He also helped West Ham to promotion via the Championship playoffs in 2012.

The New Zealander was a strong center-back for the Hammers. He also notably scored in a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Reid then had a brief stint at Brentford, where he also helped win the Championship playoffs.

His substitute appearance as the Bees defeated Swansea City to gain promotion was to be his final game before retiring. Reid is now an investor in Auckland FC.

4. Billy Dare

Billy Dare began his career with Hendon before a lengthy spell with Brentford between 1948 and 1955. In total, he played in 222 games for the Bees and is now in their hall of fame.

After Brentford, Dare joined West Ham, with whom he helped win the Second Division. He then played for Yiewsley and managed Ruislip Manor. Dare passed away in 1994 at the age of 67.

5. Roger Cross

Roger Cross came through the ranks at West Ham after being born locally in East Ham. However, his stint in the Hammers' first team was brief, and he was sent on loan to Leyton Orient.

Cross then joined Brentford, where he had two spells which sandwiched a stint at Fulham. In total, he played 228 times for the Bees, scoring 79 goals. Cross then played for the Seattle Sounders in the NASL before ending his playing career with Millwall.

He also had a successful career after retiring from playing. Cross worked as the academy manager at Millwall. He was also assistant manager at Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham, and West Ham's reserves. Cross was also a West Ham scout and was chief scout at Southend United.
