As if we have not had enough of talking about books recently. Earl Spencer's new book, Swan Song, has caused enough controversy. Now Andy Carroll has released an autobiography, Owning It, which could be almost as explosive.
In the book, Carroll has revealed that he was sexually assaulted back in 2021. Credit to the former West Ham United striker for being brave enough to open up about this. Carroll writing about this could help someone who has gone through a similar ordeal.
Also, Carroll claims that Wayne Rooney invited players to drink in his room whilst on international duty with England. Rooney is reportedly threatening legal action against Carroll over this. Sounds familiar, as Piers Morgan has already begun the process of legal action against Spencer for false accusations in Swan Song.

West Ham fans will want to read Andy Carroll's new book
Carroll burst onto the scene at Newcastle United before securing a £35 million move to Liverpool. However, he flopped at Anfield but rebuilt his career at West Ham. He joined the Hammers initially on loan before making the move permanent.
Injuries prevented Carroll from really succeeding at West Ham. However, he helped the club establish themselves back in the Premier League and provided some memorable moments. He scored a hat-trick against Arsenal at Upton Park and a phenomenal overhead kick against Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.
After seven years at West Ham, Carroll returned to Newcastle. He also had spells at West Bromwich Albion and Reading. Then the forward played in France at Amiens and Bordeaux before returning to England with Dagenham and Redbridge. He is a minority shareholder in the Daggers, and after working as their interim manager, he is now the assistant to current boss Lee Allinson.
Carroll is now 37, so it is a credit to him that he is still playing in the National League South. It was thought that Carroll was not that passionate about football, but for him to still be playing in English football's sixth tier shows a definite love of the game.
His career and life have been eventful. There have been off-field controversies. He even had to live with Kevin Nolan whilst he was on bail. Carroll married The Only Way Is Essex star Billi Mucklow and is going through divorce proceedings. He is now going out with Lou Teasdale, who is a celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist.
Carroll's book is a short read, at just 288 pages. However, from what has come out about it recently, it could be worth it. We are in a flux of former West Ham players releasing books recently. Michail Antonio and Mark Noble have both already released their autobiographies. Now we are on an international break; Hammers fans can catch up on their reading.
