West Ham transfer target Lucas Ocampos joins Monterrey

In this summer transfer window, West Ham were interested in a lot of left wingers to bolster their attack with pace and creativity. One of the players considered by the Hammers is Argentina forward Lucas Ocampos. The former Sevilla star is a versatile forward who can both on both left as well as right side of the attack and has been a proven performer during his stay in La Liga. 

Ocampos joined La Liga side Sevilla in 2019 after spending seven years in the French league playing for Monaco and Marseille. During that time, he also had brief loan spells in Italy as he featured for Genoa and Milan. After joining Sevilla, the 30-year-old made over two hundred appearances and contributed to 66 goals winning the UEFA Europa League twice in his five seasons at the club.

Therefore, West Ham considered signing the right footed left winger, who also helps in winning ball possession with his great recovery pace. However, a move to the London Stadium didn't materialised and the Hammers signed Dutch winger Cryscencio Summerville from Leeds United. Now, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Lucas Ocampos has joined Mexican club Monterrey from Sevilla, saying,

"Lucas Ocampos has completed his move to Rayados from Sevilla.

Despite links, West Ham were never in talks to sign Ocampos in the recent days."

Fabrizio Romano also revealed that West Ham didn't made a transfer offer to Sevilla for signing Ocampos despite interested in his signing. Hence, Ocampos has decided to join Monterrey for a transfer fee of around £7 million after five brilliant seasons in La Liga. Now, West Ham have Summerville and have signed Nicolas Fullkrug as well to complete a brilliant attack. 

Moreover, Summerville and Fullkrug are expected to start in the next Premier League match against Fulham after this international break.
