The international break is over after two weeks, and West Ham turn their focus on the Premier League again as they play Fulham in an away game in the fourth league match. Currently, West Ham have taken a win and faced two defeats, both at home against Aston Villa and defending Premier League Champions Manchester City. With this, the Hammers are thirteenth in the Premier League, one point behind Fulham who are twelfth in the league with a win, a draw and a defeat from their first three matches.
This is the second away match for West Ham, who took a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in their first away fixture this season. However, this is a massive fixture for Julen Lopetegui’s side as Fulham have been performing well in the Premier League since they achieved promotion to the English top flight in 2022. Last season, Fulham took a massive 5-0 win over the Hammers in the away match and followed it with another great performance in a 2-0 win at the London Stadium with a brace from Andreas Pereira.
West Ham preparing for massive Fulham away fixture
This season, Fulham put in a good overall performance against Manchester United in the opening league match, but conceded a last minute goal and faced a 1-0 defeat. Then, they put in an impressive performance against newly promoted sides Leicester City and Ipswich Town taking a 2-1 win and a 1-1 draw from the two matches. With the additions of Arsenal stars Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson alongside Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace, Fulham have become a better side and the Hammers will have to start the game on a good note in order to get the three points.
This is a big match for West Ham's defence who will want to put in a rock solid defensive display after conceding five goals in the last away game against Fulham. Some lineup changes are also expected and it remains to be seen whether manager Julen Lopetegui decides to start Jarrod Bowen as the centre forward.
