West Ham have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund's forward Karim Adeyemi as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming Premier League season. Following the recent 3-1 defeat to Wolves, Julen Lopetegui's new style of football has made signing a jet-heeled forward a necessity.
West Ham interested in signing Karim Adeyemi
Signing Aston Villa's Jhon Duran looks complicated as Villa rejected the latest bid from West Ham for Duran. Thus, the Hammers are monitoring other forward options, and according to TuttoSport, West Ham has Germany's quickest player on their shortlist.
Borussia Dortmund's forward Karim Adeyemi has emerged as an alternative to Jhon Duran. The 22-year-old is a versatile forward, meaning he can play on the wings as a striker and as a playmaker as well. Also, considering the fact that Michael Antonio is soon to be 34 years old and has lost his blistering pace, which made him a fan favorite at the London Stadium.
Currently, there is a lack of pace in the attack, with only star forwards Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen having the ability to press high up the pitch and create chances going forward.
Thus, Karim Adeyemi will spark more freshness in the West Ham attack, and his work ethic helps him to track back to help the fullbacks as well. Last season, Adeyemi contributed only seven goals for Dortmund and only played half of the 2023/24 season due to injuries.
Arriving at Signal Iduna Park in 2022, Adeyemi has shown flashes of brilliance, but injuries have slowed his progress with Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Thus, Dortmund may consider selling the forward for around £35M this summer. The 22-year-old can benefit from a transfer to the Premier League. If Adeyemi can work on his fitness, the young talent has everything to succeed at West Ham in the English top flight.
Despite losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid last month, Adeyemi was the star of the show in the first half with his pace and dribbling, unlocking Madrid's defense several times. He has proved that he can take on any defense in the world, and with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus alongside him, West Ham can have the best front three in the Premier League for years to come.
