West Ham could make a surprise signing this season

All Premier League clubs will submit their squad lists for the first half of the season today, thus some teams can try to make a few more additions on a free transfer quickly. Although West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui confirmed that West Ham’s transfer window is closed, the club could try to make another signing as well. The Hammers squad clearly needs a fourth choice centre back, and while Kaelan Casey is highly likely to be given first team opportunities, West Ham can sign a new defender as well to give Lopetegui the tactical flexibility to play three centre-backs in some matches.
At the start of this summer transfer window, West Ham were interested in signing Salzburg's defender Oumar Solet, before bringing Jean-Clair Todibo to the London Stadium. In the final week of the transfer window, La Liga side Villarreal were involved in negotiations to sign him, but he stayed at Salzburg. Recently, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reported that Solet has left Salzburg and the French centre back is available on a free transfer, saying,
West Ham could make a surprise signing this season
"Omar Solet becomes a free agent as his contract at RB Salzburg has been terminated on mutual agreement.

Solet and Salzburg have decided to part ways."
This is a surprising move as the talented defender was expected to stay at Salzburg and join a new club in the next transfer window. However, that looks highly likely to happen now instead as several teams from Europe's top five leagues will consider signing him to bolster their defensive ranks. That includes West Ham as well who can add their preferred defensive transfer target to Julen Lopetegui's squad on a free transfer this season.
Meanwhile West Ham are preparing to face Fulham in an away fixture and now it remains to be seen whether West Ham will try to sign Oumar Solet this season.
