Since facing Manchester City in the last match day of the 2023/24 season, West Ham faced a Premier League opposition for the first time in two months. Julen Lopetegui led the Hammers to face his former club Wolves in the States.
Despite West Ham missing some of their top stars like Edson Alvarez, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen, it was a chance for Julen Lopetegui to test out his new system with some of the academy talents. However, it was an underwhelming display from the Hammers defence who conceded three goals with two coming inside five minutes in the second half.
