2. Max Kilman

Last month, West Ham completed the £40 million signing of Max Kilman from Wolves making Kilman the second most expensive signing in the club's history after Sebastien Haller in 2019. A big reason why the Hammers brought in Kilman was his leadership in organizing the defence as well as his passing and build up play from the defence.

However, in the Crystal Palace game, the West Ham defence looked unorganized as the defence couldn't clear the ball properly which led Tyrick Mitchell to open the scoring for Crystal Palace inside the first minute. In the second half with Palace leading 2-1, Nayef Aguerd gave away possession to Odsonne Edouard who then dribbled past Kilman and scored the third goal for Palace to make it 3-1.

Thus, West Ham need to sign another reliable centre back to partner alongside Kilman to improve the defence.
