Should West Ham try to sign Premier League star Raheem Sterling

In the first matchday of the Premier League season, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca revealed that star forward Raheem Sterling is not a part of his plans as new Chelsea manager and Sterling can leave West Ham this summer. This has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham who are considering the idea of signing the English forward.

Sterling has played for big Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea having made 373 appearances in the English top flight. Meanwhile, he has scored 123 goals and provided 62 assists making him a star forward in the Premier League. On top of that, the 29-year-old has won four Premier League titles at Manchester City among a lot of other trophies.

Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022 and despite playing well, looks likely to leave Chelsea due to the Blues focusing on signing younger wingers in their squad. Recently, according to Claret and Hugh, Sterling's preference is to remain in London meaning he could possibly join West Ham in this transfer window. Julen Lopetegui's side have Cryscencio Summerville as the only left wing option in their squad, thus, can benefit from adding Sterling to provide more depth to their squad.

Further, this will allow West Ham star Mohammed Kudus to play in his preferred central playmaker position instead of playing at the left wing. However, Sterling's huge salary demands may led West Ham to not sign Sterling in this transfer window. After having signed eight new players, the Hammers should only try to sign Sterling on a season long loan with an option to buy instead of signing him this summer.
