Premier League side were also interested in signing Todibo this season
In this summer transfer window, West Ham surprised a lot of Premier League fans and analysts when they completed the massive signing of French centre back Jean-Clair Todibo. At the start of this summer transfer window, Manchester United had reached an agreement with French side Nice to sign Todibo, but the move didn't happen as both clubs have the same owners. After that Juventus entered the race which led Todibo to wait for the Serie A side to agree a transfer fee with Nice after agreeing personal terms with Juventus.
Therefore, it was widely expected that the former Barcelona defender will join Serie A side Juventus in this transfer window, however the Hammers convinced him to arrive at the London Stadium on a season long loan move with a buy option at the end of this season. After Todibo joined West Ham, technical director Tim Steidten revealed that the defender had attracted a lot of transfer interest from several clubs around Europe, who were involved in negotiations with Nice to secure his services. This was a surprise as it seemed that West Ham and Juventus were the only clubs in the race to sign the 24-year-old centre back.

Now, according to a report from The Athletic, two Premier League sides were also huge admirers of Todibo's talent and tried to sign him in this transfer window. Newcastle United wanted to bring a new central defender to bolster their defensive ranks and approached the player regarding a transfer move. Alongside them, Tottenham Hotspurs were also interested in Todibo but didn't submitted any opening bid to Nice to sign him in the transfer window.
This season, Todibo has made four appearances for Julen Lopetegui's side with only one start against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup. Currently, Todibo is adapting to West Ham's squad and manager Julen Lopetegui's tactics in order to become a starting centre back in the upcoming matches and form a reliable partnership with Max Kilman in defence.
