Recently, transfer journalist, Florian Plettenberg reported that West Ham had agreed a £16 million deal with Bayern Munich to sign Noussair Mazraoui. However from Hammers point of view, there has emerged worrying updates on this transfer.

Manchester United were also said to have been interested in the prospect of signing the 26-year-old right-back and now they seem well-positioned to land their preferred signing. As reported by journalist, Florian Plettenberg,

"Noussair Mazraoui deal with West Ham is OFF!

No agreement on agent‘s side has been reached. Despite the agreement between the clubs and on player‘s side West Ham now have left the negotiations.

Manchester United now pushing to sign Mazraoui. Advanced talks."

Despite agreeing a transfer fee with Bayern and personal terms with Noussair Mazraoui, the player's agent seems to have been the deal breaker in West Ham's case. This marks the fourth time in the last two seasons that West Ham have failed to close the deal at the last moment with Manchester City academy talent Carlos Borges and Red Devils defender Harry Maguire coming very close to sign for West Ham last season.

This season, Noussair Mazraoui becomes the second addition to this list after Fabricio Bruno deal was called off last month. Something similar had recently happened with the Jean-Clair Todibo deal with offer accepted by Nice but Todibo decided to wait for Juventus.

This pattern has been worrying now and Tim Steidten and the board need to find a solution to finalize any deal smoothly. Now, it's only three weeks before the Hammers kickoff their season against Aston Villa and the club still needs to bring in a striker, centre-back and a right-back to assemble a squad capable of aiming for a top six spot in the 2024/25 Premier League.
