Former West Ham star gives a surprising opinion on Dimitri Payet
In this transfer window, West Ham sent midfielder James Ward Prowse on a season long loan transfer to Nottingham Forest. The big reason to agree a loan transfer for Ward Prowse was his struggles in creating big chances inside the final third from the build up play. However, the 29-year-old exceeded expectations in his debut season for the Hammers after arriving from Southampton on a £30 million transfer last year.
Ward Prowse scored seven goals and provided eleven assists for West Ham with most of them coming from set piece chances. The former Southampton star is one of the best free-kick takers in the Premier League and he resembles to former West Ham star Dimitri Payet in that aspect. Payet played at the London Stadium for only one and a half seasons, but his impressive displays are fondly remembered by the Hammers fans.

In 60 appearances for West Ham, Payet scored fifteen goals and provided 22 assists, which included some remarkable free-kicks against Manchester United in the FA Cup and Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Therefore, several West Ham fans were surprised when he left the Hammers to return to his former club Marseille, midway through the 2016/17 season. Now, his West Ham teammate Carl Jenkinson has given a surprising opinion about Payet, saying,
"Payet was very, very good, technically really good, his delivery from free-kicks and set pieces made him one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Funnily enough there was another player at West Ham called Nene, signed on loan, and he was the best free-kick taker I’ve ever seen."
This is a surprising take considering Nene played only eight games for the Hammers during his loan spell and didn't had great performances while playing for the club. However, Nene was a star forward at Paris Saint-Germain and joined West Ham later, thus, he could have been a great signing at West Ham but he couldn't adapt to the Premier League in his limited playing time at the London Stadium.
