The Scott Parker reign at West Ham United has gotten off to a bad start. They went three goals down to Cardiff City this week, but managed to salvage a point. Now, they have just lost 2-1 away to Blackburn Rovers. The upcoming international break will give West Ham a much-needed chance to re-assess.
West Ham Player Ratings
Mads Hermansen - 5: Hermansen is still preferred to Parker's goalkeeper at Fulham, Alphonse Areola. There was not much Hermansen could do as he conceded a free header and a strike right in the corner from the edge of the box.
Joel Veltman - 6: Was always willing to get forward and link up play.
Dinos Mavropanos - 5: Composed on the ball, but could have organised his back line better. Seems very focused on adding to his goal tally, as he surged forward on occasion. Mavropanos' knee is also still troubling him.
Max Kilman - 5: Played the ball forward well again. However, Kilman let his man go when Andri Gudjohnsen scored. Looked like he was fouled in the build-up to Afoalyan's goal, too.
Ezra Mayers - 5: Started ahead of Morato, who had a disaster against Cardiff. However, Mayers had a difficult night up against Jayden Fevrier.
Jarrod Bowen (C) - 5: Parker will want to see Bowen step up into being more of a leader on the pitch.
Arne Engels - 5: Engels was not able to deliver his usual passing masterclass and also blazed a shot wide.
Divine Mukasa - 5: Played in an attacking role alongside Mohamadou Kante, but was the one playing a little further back. He was still able to drive forward and link up well with Piroe. It is difficult to mix Mukasa and Mohamadou Kante into the same system.
Mohamadou Kante - 5: Kante did little of note. He has done surprisingly well in a more advanced role this season, but it might be wise for him to drop back to his defensive midfield role.
Edvin Austbø - 5: Many West Ham fans want Austbø to play ahead of Solomon. They are similar players, but Austbø appears to be better at getting into good areas to cross the ball right now.
Joel Piroe - 6 Got the nod to play ahead of Taty Castellanos, but most of his efforts on goal were tame. However, he did fire a powerful strike to get one back.
Off the Bench
Manor Solomon - 5: Came on for Austbø in the 59th minute, but could not make an impact.
Taty Castellanos - 6: Put in a great cross to set up Piroe's goal. Not known for his crossing, but a new role for him could be on the wing.
Tomas Soucek - N/A: Came on in the 78th minute, so had no time to make an impact.
Lewis Orford - N/A: Subbed on at the same time as Soucek, so had little time.
