Niclas Fullkrug has endured a difficult start to his West Ham career, since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in a £27 million move in the transfer window. Signed in to become the first choice centre forward for Julen Lopetegui's side, Fullkrug is yet to make his first Premier League start for the Hammers. Lopetegui opted to gradually integrate Fullkrug into the starting lineup, playing him as a second half substitute in the first three league matches.
Expected to start as West Ham's new number nine after the previous international break, Fullkrug was sidelined with an achilles injury before Germany's UEFA Nations League match against Netherlands. Since then, Fullkrug has missed five matches for West Ham across all competitions and is currently recovering from his injury to quickly return to full fitness. Recently, West Ham technical director Tim Steidten suggested the Hammers fans to give some time to the 31-year-old who hasn't played consistently in the starting lineup, since arriving at the London Stadium.
Fullkrug makes stunning revelation regarding West Ham
Now, Fullkrug recently spoke about his transfer move and made a stunning revelation regarding West Ham, suggesting a recovery plan formed with manager Julen Lopetegui to make his return with some substitute appearances. Although Fullkrug wants to start every match for both club and country, the Germany international was sidelined for several months with an injury at Werder Bremen, thus wants to avoid picking any long-term injuries in the upcoming matches. Further, West Ham's all-time Premier League topscorer, Michail Antonio returned to his goalscoring form against Ipswich Town and thus, can start the next few matches for Julen Lopetegui's side as well.
On top of that, Jarrod Bowen also returned to his level best in the recent 4-1 win, and if he gives a few assists to Fullkrug in his substitute cameos, the former Borussia Dortmund star will get a much needed momentum boost to thrive in the Premier League. With upcoming matches against Manchester United and Arsenal, it remains to be seen when Fullkrug will make his comeback from injury.
