Former West Ham flop joins Championship side as new manager
- Arsenal star Jack Wilshere made only 19 appearances for West Ham in two seasons.
- Wilshere is joining Championship side Norwich City as their new manager.
While Jack Wilshere is regarded as one of the best Arsenal midfielder's under their former manager Arsene Wenger, that isn't the case for Wilshere at West Ham. Signed on a free transfer after making nearly 200 appearances for Arsenal, the former England international was expected to be a good midfield squad option for the Hammers.
West Ham legend and first-choice central midfielder Mark Noble was struggling with fitness during that time, and thus, the club brought Wilshere to play in the box-to-box midfield role under former manager Manuel Pellegrini. However, this transfer move didn't work as expected, with Wilshere making only 19 appearances for West Ham during his two year stay at the club.
The all-round midfield star later played for Bournemouth and Danish side Aarhus before announcing his retirement in 2022. After that, Wilshere was appointed as Arsenal U18 side's manager and he led the Arsenal youth team to the Youth FA Cup final, where they took the early lead but were defeated 5-1 by West Ham's U18 team.

Despite being the runners-up, Wilshere's significant managerial progress led to various Championship sides expressing their transfer interest in signing him. Now, according to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Norwich City are very close to reaching an agreement with Wilshere to become their new first team manager.

Norwich City's decision to bring Wilshere stems from their need for a new manager, after former manager Narcis Pelach joined Championship rivals Stoke City at the beginning of the season. This is a great managerial opportunity for Wilshere, and if he manages to achieve promotion with Norwich City to the Premier League, the former West Ham midfielder can manage a top Premier League club in the upcoming seasons as well.
