The January transfer window has just closed, but it has not stopped West Ham United's top players from being linked with moves away from the club. This is no surprise as the Hammers are at real risk of relegation, which would lead to an overhaul at the club. Even the Hammers' best performers could seek pastures new if they stay in the Premier League.
The transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, posted on X: " West Ham rejected two approached from Premier League and Serie A from Crysencio Summerville in January. Seen as untouchable for this season + player happy to stay and help West Ham but summer will be different. Expected to be one to watch in June with several clubs keen."
Summerville was linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but which Serie A team was interested remains a mystery. He has been linked with AS Roma and Bologna in the past. Given the Dutchman's form, there is no reason why bigger Italian teams would not have tried to snatch him from the London Stadium.
Crysencio Summerville has been in impressive form
He has scored three goals with three assists in 19 Premier League games this season. His goals have come in the Hammers' last three games. Summerville netted the winner against Spurs, before also scoring in the victory over Sunderland. He then found the back of the net versus Chelsea, but West Ham went on to lose that tie.
The winger missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury. However, he returned with a star cameo in West Ham's first Premier League win of the campaign. Summerville came off the bench and made two assists in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. That result sealed the fate of Nuno Espirito Santo at Forest. Little did we know then that Nuno was to be the man who would replace Graham Potter.
Summerville then had a run of 14 league games without a goal involvement. He did miss games during this period due to a knock. However, he did make an assist in West Ham's loss to Forest in the return fixture.
It would have been suicidal for West Ham to let Summerville go in January. Especially as they had already let Lucas Paqueta, Luis Guilherme, and Niclas Fullkrug all depart the club. If Summerville can continue his impressive form, then a summer transfer away from the London Stadium could be inevitable.
