Recently, ex-West Ham assistant manager Edin Terzic has been linked with returning to West Ham amidst Julen Lopetegui's uncertain future as the Hammers head coach. Although the 2-1 win over Manchester United last week was a massive result for the Hammers, the home fans were left unconvinced by their performance in the first half.
Ex-West Ham assistant manager considering returning to West Ham
The Red Devils created a lot of huge goalscoring chances inside the box and even missed an open goal as well which highlighted West Ham's defensive struggles while facing world-class forwards. This was a very similar display from Julen Lopetegui's side as in the previous 4-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspurs, where they conceded three quick second-half goals within eight minutes.
The next match is an away fixture against Nuno Espirito Santo's in-form Nottingham Forest, and a win would help West Ham to come inside the top-ten position in the league table, however, a huge defeat could again increase speculations regarding a managerial change at the club. If that happens, a number of quality managers are rumored to be among the favorites to replace Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium, including former assistant manager Edin Terzic.
Recently, Terzic revealed his ambition to manage a Premier League club and could consider returning to the London Stadium as the new West Ham manager after staying at the club for two years as Slaven Bilic's assistant manager. Terzic guided Borussia Dortmund to reach the Champions League final last season and led them to come very close to winning the Bundesliga title as well in the 2022/23 season.
In the previous few seasons, Terzic has established himself as one of the elite managers in European football who has enjoyed a lot of success by implementing an attack-oriented tactical setup. Further, Terzic's focus on developing youth talents also aligns well with West Ham's long-term plans, and now it remains to be seen whether Terzic joins West Ham as the new manager if Lopetegui doesn't bring consistently good results in the upcoming league matches against Nottingham Forest and Everton.
