Many West Ham United fans were apprehensive about the club signing Axel Disasi on loan in January. This is understandable, as Disasi had only played for Chelsea's Under-21s this campaign, as he was frozen out of their first team.
It appeared a desperate signing from West Ham in their bid to survive in a relegation battle. However, you do not become a bad player overnight. Disasi has five caps for France, and would not have played for the likes of Chelsea and AS Monaco if he were not a good player.
The center-back has hit the ground running at the London Stadium. He has played 90 minutes in all five of his Premier League games since joining the club. This has included wins against Fulham and Burnley, draws against Manchester United and Bournemouth. However, he did also play in the 5-2 defeat to Liverpool.
Disasi also came off the bench to help ensure that West Ham defeated Burton Albion in the FA Cup. He will be expected to feature in the cup match against Brentford on Monday night.
Axel Disasi wants to stay at West Ham United
Disasi is clearly enjoying his time at West Ham, and according to ExWHUEmployee, he is up for staying if the Hammers are to remain in the Premier League.
West Ham gave Disasi the chance when no one else did. His loan deal currently does not have the option for West Ham to sign him permanently. However, it could be negotiated if the Hammers survive in their relegation battle.
