West Ham to be without FOUR youngsters for next season
By Alex Smith
West Ham could be without four key youngsters next season as two are expected to leave the club permanently and another two likely to leave on loan.
Highly rated striker Sonny Perkins as well as Emmanuel Longelo are both set for transfers away from the Hammers.
Meanwhile centre-back duo Ajibola Alese and Jamal Baptiste are both reportedly set for loan moves.
West Ham are set to lose four talented youngsters this summer, as two go out on loan and another pair look set to depart on a permanent basis.
Perkins, a striker, made his debut in the Europa League off the bench against Rapid Vienna. He since also went on to make his Premier League debut and start, as many of the Under-23’s did, versus Dinamo Zagreb.
But the 18-year-old could leave West Ham as his deal expires this summer. Perkins alongside his agent are rumoured to be demanding a wage increase that the club are not willing to pay. Leeds and Aston Villa could swoop in and sign the teenager if a deal cannot be agreed.
Additionally, possibly on his way out is Longelo. He impressed on his debut versus Zagreb and some fans wanted to see him get some more first-team opportunities. But at the age of 21 he wants to play first-team football and reportedly sees his path to the West Ham side blocked by Aaron Cresswell and either Arthur Masuaku or a new full-back signing.
Longelo was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest back in January but now Rangers, Bournemouth and Millwall are keen.
Departing on loan could be the way to senior minutes for Alese. He is the captain of the Under-23 team and is well respected by many at West Ham. He has previously had loan spells away from the club and he could depart again with Cardiff interested, according to @ExWHUemployee. West Ham do not want to sell him.
Baptiste is just 18-years-old but has already been tipped for big things at the Hammers. To help him gain some much needed experience he could also be loaned out.
Conor Coventry impressed out on loan at MK Dons last season. Whether he will be sent on loan again, be sold, or stay at West Ham and fight for his place remains to be seen. Plenty of people inside the club are big fans of Coventry but manager David Moyes is reportedly yet to be convinced.
Harrison Ashby is a young player who is rated by Moyes and the right-back could therefore receive more first-team chances in the approaching season.
