West Ham manager David Moyes has issued Lyon striker Moussa Dembele a warning after he winked when he got Aaron Cresswell controversially sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity.
The Hammers drew with the French side 1-1 in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final at London Stadium.
Moyes also hit out at German referee, Felix Zwayer, who had been found guilty of accepting a bribe back in 2005 in a match fixing scandal, after a shocking performance last night.
West Ham boss David Moyes has warned Lyon attacker Moussa Dembele ahead of the next week’s second leg. He was also left fuming by ref Felix Zwayer and a fan who ran on the pitch as the Hammers counter-attacked.
Speaking in a press conference a day after the match as West Ham prepare for a trip across London to face Brentford, the Scot said regarding Dembele’s wink, “I think in the end football comes around. It is a strange thing football. It comes around and you have got to be careful.”
Hinting that the Irons are ready to use the first leg controversy as motivation for the second match and emphasising West Ham’s fighting spirit.
Moyes still believes it was a foul on Jarrod Bowen leading up to the incident and that VAR should’ve called the game back for a West Ham free-kick.
On the official, Zwayer, Moyes still refused to comment as he did post match but you can tell he remains unimpressed with his officiating, “I said last night that I do not really want to talk about referees or decisions,” he said angrily.
Moyes was given a yellow card at half-time for confronting Zwayer on his decision making as he walked off the pitch.
Regarding, the fan that entered the pitch as West Ham counter-attacked in the second half, the ex-Man United and Everton manager expressed his disappointment on his behaviour.
He said, “Those things certainly didn’t help” as he admitted to being ‘baffled’ by one person’s actions.
Regarding the approaching Brentford, Moyes said Manuel Lanzini is still suffering with a minor knock following a car crash. He is training and should be back soon.
