Is West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen set for an England call-up?

West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen is believed to be on the radar of England manager, Gareth Southgate, ahead of the approaching international break that begins on 8th November.

The 24-year-old has been in outstanding form recently scoring three goals and registering two assists in his last seven games, including one of the four goals as West Ham dismantled Aston Villa 1-4.

HIs performance away at Villa Park emphasised everything good about Bowen, tirelessly running up and down the right wing providing defensive help for the exceptional Ben Johnson at right-back. He was also a constant threat in attack registering four shots on target, more than any other West Ham player.

West Ham star Jarrod Bowen could be in line for a call-up to the England national team. He is believed to have been monitored by manager Gareth Southgate.

Bowen is one of many Hammers players in-form this season along with Michail Antonio and Declan Rice. David Moyes’ side sit 4th in the league, top of their Europa League group and made it through to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup beating Man City 5-3 on penalties.

It will be difficult for Bowen to force his way into the England squad with plenty of competition in attacking areas. However, Jadon Sancho hasn’t got off to a good start at Man United and nor has Jesse Lingard who has struggled for minutes. This means the door could be open for Bowen or perhaps Arsenal’s Emile Smith-Rowe.

Moyes has said, “If he can continue with his form, if he can keep his goals tally up, he’ll not be levels away from being close to England squads.”

Bowen opted not to go on holiday over the summer and instead chose to focus on improving his fitness by running in the fields in Hereford, something which has helped strengthen his calf muscles.

Moyes previously said, “If you asked me in pre-season who I thought looked the fittest and in the best condition, it would be Bowen.” This shows his rise from being at non-league side, Hereford United to becoming one of the Irons’ best players, is at the result of plenty of hard work.

His current deal runs until the summer of 2025 and despite possible interest from Liverpool over the summer, West Ham insist Bowen is not for sale and they are yet to receive any approaches.
